Spotlight on Mary (Hempfling) Etzkorn

Happy Birthday!!!

Mary (Hempfling) Etzkorn celebrated her 102nd birthday on July 27, 2009. Mary was a member of the St. John's High School graduating class of 1925 which totaled 22 graduates.

Joining Mary for her birthday celebration were family members Tom Hempfling, Class of 1957, his son Chuck, class of 1980 and Chuck's daughter Alicia, class of 2009.

Mary B. Etzkorn

DELPHOS, Oh. - Mary B. Etzkorn, 102, of Delphos, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Roselawn Manor.

She was born on July 27, 1907 in Van Wert County to Michael and Kathryn (Will) Hempfling, both of whom are deceased. She was united in marriage to Albert Etzkorn on Nov. 30, 1935. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1992.

Etzkorn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother: Michael Hempfling; two special great-nieces: Dorothy Wienken and Arlene Bockey.

She is survived by George Wienken and Agnes Wienken who she raised; a special great-niece, Margie Schmersal; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck with Father Fleck officiating. Burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There will be a Parish Wake on Monday to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 29, from 2-8 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.
